Overview

Alias Coffee, nestled in the heart of Albany at 76 N Pearl St, stands as a refined destination for those who appreciate quality and thoughtful coffee culture. This coffee shop embraces the third wave movement, roasting its own beans to ensure fresh, rich flavors that shine through in each cup. Their espresso and cappuccino are particularly notable, with the creamy texture and balanced notes earning high praise from numerous visitors. The matcha latte, though a less common coffeehouse offering, adds a subtle and smooth alternative for green tea enthusiasts, expanding the menu without complicating it.

The space itself is designed with both comfort and productivity in mind. Large and thoughtfully segmented, it caters to a wide range of visitors—from remote workers who settle into cozy sofas or communal tables, to those simply seeking a quality to-go coffee. The atmosphere strikes a delicate balance: lively enough to feel connected but calm enough to focus. Reliable Wi-Fi supports those working or studying, making Alias Coffee more than just a spot for a caffeine fix but a community hub for creative energy.

Alias Coffee’s simplicity in menu options is its strength, focusing on classic drinks like croissants and expertly crafted espresso beverages rather than an overwhelming array of fanciful concoctions. This minimalism extends to the service experience—it ranges from warm and knowledgeable baristas that welcome regulars and newcomers alike, to occasional moments where efficiency might waver. Those who visit seeking a rich, well-rounded coffee experience will appreciate the care poured into each drink, even if the menu avoids ornate syrup-laden offerings.

The location in downtown Albany offers convenience, though some customers note parking challenges. Nonetheless, the inviting interior—with ample seating and natural light—invites visitors to stay a while. Whether you are a local office worker craving a dependable, high-quality coffee en route to work, a freelancer seeking an inspiring workspace, or simply a coffee lover drawn to artisanal roasting, Alias Coffee adapts gracefully to diverse needs.

In summary, Alias Coffee shines as a versatile coffee shop that prioritizes excellence in its core offerings and fosters an environment conducive to work and social connection alike. Its blend of expertly roasted beans, thoughtful menu curation, and welcoming atmosphere positions it as a cherished spot in Albany’s coffee scene.

Is the great coffee shop highly recommended if you have good taste and coffee specifically third wave. One of the best lattes and cappuccinos I have ever tasted. They have an excellent coffee program and they roast their own beans. The space is absolutely amazing. Great to work and they have Wi-Fi.

I’ve only tried the coffee so it’s a bit too early to do a review. I’ll update this after my wife tries the Matcha. The coffee is good. The place looks amazing, with lots of room for an improve meeting if need be.

Alias Coffee in downtown Albany is a wonderful discovery for coffee lovers and remote workers alike. The space is large and thoughtfully divided into different sections — from comfy sofas and poufs to a long communal table — allowing guests to choose the vibe that suits them best. Whether you’re here for focused work or casual relaxation, the layout makes it easy to settle in. The coffee itself is excellent. We ordered a cortado and a latte, both prepared with care and served promptly. The staff is friendly and professional, maintaining a warm atmosphere without being intrusive. Their efficiency and positive attitude add to the overall experience, making you feel welcome whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor. What stands out most is how well the café balances its purpose. It caters perfectly to two main crowds: office workers looking for a high-quality to-go coffee and people wanting to spend a few productive hours on-site. The environment is lively but not overwhelming, with just the right level of background buzz to feel connected without being distracted. Overall, Alias Coffee offers great drinks, a pleasant setting, and a versatile space that adapts to different needs. It’s definitely a spot we’d return to — whether for work, a quick caffeine fix, or just to enjoy the atmosphere.

Decent cup of coffee. This was a recommendation from a patron from another shop. For an iced latte they only have a 16 oz and it's pricier than most shops in the capital district. It's cute inside with nice seating. They don't have signature drinks and I couldn't tell if there were syrup flavors. Service was below average. Very basic coffee shop.

What a lovely place! It did take me a couple trips around the block and some bad parallel parking to find a parking spot but once I did, it was a great. The menu is simple and they offered 3 flavored syrups as options so don’t come if you’re looking for a fru fru (spelling? I made it up) coffee drink. My maple latte was delicious and the foam design was just what I was looking for. I also spent an hour in the comfy chairs in the front window and I will absolutely return.

Reviewers were right! Incredibly delicious coffee and a cool environment. The noise level made it hard to think! There was a small group of people chatting at the bar and a half dozen other customers and the volume hovered at 90db, the same as power tools and lawn mowers. Some baffling or other acoustic enhancement would make this place a 10/10!

Best coffee I’ve found in Albany. The shop is very cute with great decor and seating. They also play great jazz music in here on their speakers. The coffee was very tasty with good latte art. The staff were super friendly and nice. They clearly take great care in their coffee and espresso!

Grabbed a hot chocolate, a chocolate croissant, and a cortado. Great astmosphere, and a cool place to sit and hang out. The hot chocolate was deliciously rich in flavor, but not overwhelming. The croissant was soft. They also have great vegan options as well!
